Still dark and a little chilly on a Spring morning in Georgia, I pulled into the gas station near where I had spent the night. Busily pumping gas, I glimpsed into the well-lit convenience store attached to almost all gas stations these days, and I spotted him - a man in his 30's, happily, hurriedly mopping his assigned part of his world - the floors. Soon to be tracked in, traced by, and stepped on by hundreds of feet, he nonetheless attacked his daily task with not only a vengeance, but a seeming cheerfulness. Wow! I thought - that's how we all should approach our daily tasks. What I would deem as menial - and maybe he did too, he worked at with a flourish and a "pop" as Rachel Ray would say, that inspired me as the gas pump clunked to indicate my job was finished there. All in a day's work - his was probably just beginning - mine was newly inspired and it was Still Dark . . .
Proverbs 15:13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful contenance!
Proverbs 15:16 Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith.
